Gun Battery Marta

The gun battery Marka was established in May 1942 by the German army. The gun battery was located south of the air base and was part of the fortress Lister. The guns had a caliber of 150 mm. and they were all six mounted in open ring positions. The range of the guns was 22 km. and behind each gun there was cast bunkers for ammunition (R607) and crew (R501). In the middle a large command bunker that was disguised as a house with painted windows and equipped with an artificial roof. After the war, the gun battery was disbanded and the Norwegian Air Force took over the area and used it until 2007 as a training area.
